Portuguese man-of-war:

dangling tentacles

appeal like exotic jewelry

to ill-fated fish.

Watching Blue Planet while

she spears her cavatappi.

300 baby sharks in her belly,

a portal pierced by light,

halos around the hammer heads,

hungry spotted whale-sharks.

She wonders out-loud if they’re happy.

the illusion of separation

from God

in order to know god.
